More fuel-laden tankers enter Nepal via Dhangadhi point

Dhangadhi, Dec. 6: The Banthara Depot of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has loaded all Nepali tankers with fuels in the recent days. The tankers have been supplying the petro products in the far-west belt.
The Regional Office of Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC), Dhangadhi, said that all the tankers have been given fuel from the Banthara Depot of IOC lately adding that only four-five tankers were provided with fuel earlier.

A total of 16 fuel-laden tankers entered Nepal on Wednesday while 14 tankers entered the country on Thursday. 

Likewise, 20 fuel filled tankers entered Nepal on Saturday, the highest quantity after the India imposed unofficial blockade to Nepal, said Information Officer of NOC Dhangadhi Office Shivaraj Bhandari. 

Despite the increased amount of fuel imports, the far-west region is still facing the fuel crisis.

Similarly, more goods carrying vehicles have entered via Kailali Customs Office in the recent days, Officer of the Customs Office Man Prasad BK said. He said as high as 60 vehicles carrying commodities have come from India on daily basis. RSS

Maternal rate of infant, new moms goes down in Dang

Dang, Dec. 6: The maternal mortality rate (MMR) has gradually decreased in Dang district, the District Public Health Office, Dang said.

In 2070/71 BS, a total of 61infants and five new moms died while the infants’ death decreased to 42 in the fiscal year 2071/72 BS, chief of the Office Dr Bhuwan Poudel said. Likewise, three new mothers succumbed to causes related to pregnancy and childbirth in the 2071/72 BS.

Of the 42 infants, 37 died at home while five others in the health centres.

The Office said that as high as 70 per cent of the aspiring new mothers visit the hospitals to receive the services while giving birth to babies.

Likewise, altogether 926 women health volunteers have been deployed in the villages in the district to cater free services to the women in regard to use of family planning means and distribution of medicines for normal diseases and others.

2nd ‘Guras Mahotsav’ in Myagdi village

Beni, Dec. 6: The Second Guras Mahotsav is to hold in Todke village of Myagdi district from March 8 to 12, 2016 for the promotion and publicity of the famous touristic village. 

A meeting of the stakeholders held Saturday in coordination of Todke Area Development Trust, Myagdi, in Beni decided to organise the event in the tourist destination site.

Currently, the locals are building the required infrastructures targeting the event. The organiser said that the festival would help draw attraction of the bodies concerned for further infrastructure development to lure more domestic and international tourists in the area. 

The area is famous for different 16 species of rhododendron including white-flowering rhododendron and others. The village located at the altitude of 3,800 metres is famous for potato and radish grown at the local level and it is also a view point for 16 different mountains. RSS

Youth to get grants for animal husbandry 

Ilam, Dec. 6: The District Livestock Office, Ilam, has allocated Rs 3.2 million to provide as grants to the youth farmers for rearing cow, buffalo, pig and goat in the current fiscal year. Likewise, the youth would get the grants for poultry farming. 

The amount would be used for setting up farms, strengthening shelter for animals, market management and purchasing equipments. 

Senior Livestock Development Officer Pashupati Dhungana said that three small cow farms would be given Rs 200,000 each while farmers keeping more than 18 cows would be doled out Rs 300,000 for strengthening of cowsheds. 

Likewise, three piggeries would be provided with Rs 300,000 and two goat farms would be given Rs 400,000 each under the heading of Youth-Targeted Livestock Development Programme. The Office said that at least 20 goats should be reared to get the grant amount. 

The Office launched the programme to lure the returnee migrant workers and educated youth towards commercial livestock farming. 

Likewise, Rs 200,000 each would be given to two meat shop owners and two dairy farmers. 

The Office further said that 50 per cent in grant would be given for the purchase of the chaff cutter machines. The chaff cutter machines would be distributed from the Livestock Service Centres located in different parts of the district and the District Livestock Office. RSS

‘Influence of external forces weakening country’ 

Bhimduttanagar, Dec. 6: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Sujata Koirala has expressed concerns to the country’s recent situation saying that country was becoming weaker due to influence of the external forces.

Leader Koirala, who is also the chief of the NC’s Foreign Affairs Department, stressed the need of national unity among all to safeguard the country. 

At a news conference organised by Nepal Press Union in Bhimduttanagar today, Koirala urged the leaders of Madhesi Morcha to sit for talks at home itself to resolve the problems country facing.  Koirala’s statement has come at a time when some leaders of agitating Madhes-centric parties are leaving here for New Delhi today. 

“The issues of Madhes should be troubleshot by sitting in Nepal,” she added.

Koirala was of the argument that the country was pushed 30 years back due to existing crisis. 

On a different note, NC central committee member Koirala said that NC would see a huge change after the party’s 13th general convention. 

“The present party leadership should also come up with new thoughts if it was wishful for leading the party. NC will not run in the existing situation. Party should be taken ahead from new vein by being changed with the changing time,” Koirala added. RSS
