Dhangadhi, Dec 15: The Seti Zonal Hospital here has brought into operation the intensive care unit (ICU) service with effect from Tuesday.
The ICU was set up with the investment of Rs 12 million collected from varied sources including Rs 11 million from government, and Rs 1 million from parliamentarian Pushkar Nath Ojha’s Parliament Development Fund.
Even the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kailali, and local NGOs and some individuals extended support for beginning the ICU service, shared Medical Superintendent Dr Ganesh Bahadur Singh.
For lack of ICU service, many people with critical health condition had to succumb to injuries. With this, the people in the region need not go to neighbouring country India for treatment which obviously cost much for them, said Dr Subhesh Raj Kayastha.
Meanwhile, the Rotary Club of Dhangadi has donated medical implements worth 2.5 million rupees to the hospital.
The ICU with four beds would be extended gradually, added the hospital administration. The hospital established in 2040BS has a total of 210 beds. RSS
