Kathmandu, Dec 16: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy Top Bahadur Rayamajhi has urged the stakeholders to produce energy as per the concept of cooperatives, arguing that the traditional measures will no way help end the energy crisis prevailing the country.

Inaugurating the workshop organized by Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), National Association of Community Electricity Users-Nepal (NACEU-N) and German Technical Cooperation Agency (GTZ) in Lalitpur today, DPM Rayamajhi said that the government was committed to move ahead by addressing the energy related complications at policy -level and administrative glitches.

Clarifying that the energy crisis would not be addresses through the traditional approach, Minister Rayamjhai assured the participants and the public to cut down on the long hours of load-shedding facing the country adopting alternative measures.

He pledged that the government was ready to forward the rural community electrification programme, an initiative to bring electric power to rural and remote areas.

Also, speaking at the workshop, UCPN (Maoist) leader Leelamani Pokharel requested the NEA to consider scientific distribution of electricity.

Similarly, Chairperson of NACEU-N Narayan Gyawali appealed to the government to address the issues surfacing in the community electrification process in the country and consolidate the cooperatives working in this sector. RSS
