Kathmandu, March 17: Various ten students unions have called on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to seek China's views about China-India agreement on Lipulek, territory lying on tri-junction of three countries during his upcoming visit to the northern neighbour beginning from March 20. The Prime Minister has been urged to make efforts to revise the agreement.
A joint meeting of students unions affiliated to different political parties at the All Nepal Independent Students' Union (ANNISU- Revolutionary) office at Bagbazar, decided to request the Prime Minister to seek a long-term solution to the problem, make special efforts to immediately open the Tatopani transit point and take substantive decision on import of petro products from China.
Besides, the meeting demanded that election of Free Students Union (FSU) be held at the earliest, achievements of the joint students unions be institutionalised and fees ceiling set for private schools be implemented. The meeting demanded action against those private schools carrying school children on bad-conditioned and old school buses.
The meeting expressed concern over the TU decision to slash scholarship quota allocated to its constituency campuses by fifty percent (to 10 per cent from existing 20 per cent).
The students unions have agreed to draw the attention of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli towards taking effective measures to control of black market, financial irregularities and corruption pervasive in the country.RSS
