KUNDUZ, Afghanistan, Aug. 1 : (Xinhua) -- Six Taliban militants were killed and three others injured as war planes targeted a convoy of Taliban fighters in the northern Kunduz province on Sunday, a provincial police official said.
"Acting upon intelligence report, the aircraft raided Taliban convoy in Qala-e-Zal district today around noon killing six rebels on the spot and injured three others," police chief Mohammad Qasim Jangalbagh told Xinhua.
Two Taliban vehicles were also destroyed in the strikes, the official said.Taliban militants are yet to make comment on the report.The strategically important Qala-e-Zal district along the border with Tajikistan has been the scene of fierce fighting between government forces and Taliban militants over the past couple of weeks.
